catching up, running behind

last week the three of us drove to mississippi to visit my family. while we were there i let my 2.5 year old nephew take photos with my camera and he dropped it. now i have the fatal lens error. i knew it was a bad idea, but i couldn't help but let him when he asked if we could go take pictures of pappy's motorcycle. especially since he remembered doing the same thing from our time together a few months ago. but 2.5 year olds and pricey electronics, not the best hands to place them in no matter how pudgy and sweet. so this blog will be pretty photo-less for a while except for what i snap with my phone, but outfit posts and such will be on hold. which may be for the better since i feel pretty awful about myself and my weight gain lately. i don't feel like myself, my body feels different and strange, and losing it isn't quite as easy as it was in my 20's it seems. i've been dieting for the past 2 months and not much has changed. things that used to work, aren't. i need to up my exercise. we'll see how it goes. in any case, i do have a few catch-up posts to make (behind, as usual), so maybe i can procrastinate stretch those out long enough to last until i get a new camera. maybe i'll feel better about myself then too.

  1. I hope you had good time being back here. Where's your family from? We're in Jackson.

I've been working a lot with the ladies lately (I ride with different reps every week) and this business about losing weight in your 30's has been a recurring theme...even my own lovely wife has been doing it.

As I've been told, and as I read above...it's all about feeling good about yourself, etc. I understand. But none of these girls is big, neither is my wife and nothing I've seen here would suggest you're big either.

Here's what I know...the world has enough skinny women in it. :)

I'll go back to minding my own business now..sorry.

  2. I've had many a camera fall prey to the boys' hands. Sometimes you can eek out those lens errors, like if you whack at it again, did you try that? :) But usually it is more trouble than it is worth and might as well buy a new one, though no expensive ones for me for a while!

I'm having a weight moment right now too and it isn't even a big deal, maybe 10 lb or so, so I'm trying to not worry, but on top of everything else it's just like, ugh. I'm also on a verge of a clothes breakdown, which is somewhat body related but not as much. Might be giving a lot away to donation here pretty soon.

Hope you feel better soon! Myself, I'm hoping August will be better...

  3. I am going through the same thing re: weight, so I feel you on that.

Don't worry about photos - just post what you can. Again, I can't wait till your book comes out!

  4. I dropped my camera on hard wood floor when we were in Virginia. Luckily only the mount on the lens was broken, but it still is going to be a nice chunk of change to get it fixed. I felt like such an idiot when I did it.
This reminds me I do need to call the nice people in Boston back and tell them to go ahead with the repair.
