on a midi/maxi kick - though maxi skirts are still hard for me. i always feel like i'm channeling the mississippi pentacostal girls i grew up seeing around town which looked more lifetime mormon polygamy movie in style than fashionable. lots of long drop waist sack dresses with big hairbows and shellacked bangs to top off their waist length manes. i think that's partly why i avoided longer lengths for so long.
I know exactly what you mean by the Pentecostal girls. There were a ton of them in Arkansas, too. I was waiting for a friend to pick me up in the early 2000s, wearing maxi skirt, and I'd thrown my hair up into a messy bun. My friend said that when she first drove up that she'd thought I was a Pentecostal girl. I started reconsidering my maxi skirt addiction after that.
