jeepies creepies

PA300012-1

i wasn't planning on dressing up to come into the shop for the day, but thought what the hell's wrong with me - of course i'm getting dressed up to go into the shop and decided to get witchy at the very last minute. everything's from my closet 'cept for the dollar general hat picked up on the way in. tons of trick or treaters coming by - i'm almost out of candy so i keep hiding behind the laptop screen so maybe they won't step in - it's working so far. if only i hadn't been so generous with my huge handfuls at the very start. i hate being one of those one candy each ladies though.

bubble beret in royal.

some new things i made

this chick on etsy requested a custom scarf to match her cherry red bubble beret, so i said sure and basically used this idea which was a variation of this but in the same cherry red as the beret and along came this:

PA290011-3

LOL at my attempt at the curling iron*. what's up, joan collins. the morning glory was on the ground when i went to the mailbox earlier. for some reason this year's morning glories are blooming like nuts in october - usually they come alive in may or so. maybe m bought a different variety. but anyway, i'm so into this cherry/lumberjack red for everything this winter. hats, scarves, gloves and whatever else. that and leopard print. but not together. or maybe together - i haven't tried it yet.

and then i was bored at the shop and m's been on me to make some new beanies, so along came these slouchy pom topped things -

in grey:

and mustard:

i also have some bright primary striped ones that i like a lot (different non slouchy style and no poms. maybe i'll add a pom. i used to hate making poms till i found this method and now it's not so bad so i want to put them on everything) because m wanted sesame street themed winter wear. i didn't take photos of those 'cause beanies take all the volume out of my hair (aren't they really best for bad hair days anyway?) and i want to show milton these crazy curls so he can laugh at me.

*what i really want is a set of hot rollers with the pins that have different colored tips according to size like my mom and nana used to use - example:

it's that time again - time for past halloween costumes round up!

so last year i was pee wee:

and one night i was masked purple skirt girl:
halloween 2007

we've got our costumes for this year which are a little more traditional than our usual fare. honestly, there was this little dress that my grandmother sent along in the bag of vintage clothes that she put together for pack rats - it's handmade by her (i'm pretty sure) for my aunt in high school and fits me like a glove - really couldn't pass up the opportunity to wear it somehow since it's not really an everyday sorta dress, so halloween seemed like one of the few chance i'd have so i'm takin' it. plus i've gone as a dude for the past two years, so this year i wanna get the short skirt sexy on. kidding. i always love when i get my mom's or aunt's or grandmother's old clothes and they fit just perfectly. kind of makes me realize that my body is just the shape it's s'posed to be and it's the one i've been given so whatevs to all those pretty glossy model gals and the whole industry makin' me feel bad for my round thighs and big ol' peasant arms cause that's just how we're built in this gene pool.

so what's going on for halloween anyway? what day's the designated night of dressing up debauchery? i want it to be saturday. is it friday? or do we really have to wait till sunday? i don't know what we're gonna do.

back to bass-ics/i win at thrift

thrifted - 50 cents!

thrifted - 50 cents!

dug these out of the bins at by the pound the other day - barely worn bass ely's! bass shoes throw me way back to end of summer memories when back to school shopping wasn't complete without a trip to the outlet mall in vicksburg with my mom. the bass outlet had clothes, too. does bass still make clothes? they were in the classic plaid and khaki vein, but with an effective little modern twist. somewhat boring, but cute. you know, like all classic stuff. kidding. sort of. i like classic stuff. still have a hard time pulling off khakis though. i found a pair a month or two ago and wore them once and didn't dig it. anyhow, digging up this pair led me around to peeking at the bass site and then this very morn i read this post about the bass/rachel antonoff pairing (which are a little too cutesie for me, though i do like the navy/floral ones) - so yeah! $59 shoes for a buck or so - well it was half off day - so 50 cents! except now there's all these other ones i want that i'm pretty sure i won't be so lucky with.

like these:
hannablack
hanna in black

or these:
sadelavendar
sade in lavender grey

or these:
FABRICIAlighttaupe
fabricia in light taupe

also, i think my mom reads my blog now - so mom, if you see this, any of these for christmas would be top notch (ESPECIALLY that last pair. size 8. though maybe the dark brown version would hold up better? or the black if that's all they have. but not the black with the plaid. but the light or dark brown are my favorites. those lavender/blue boots are pretty cool too, though.) <3!

furrrrrr

PA280015-1

bein' so caught up with orders feels WEIRD. i know, i said that earlier. i've just been running behind for so long - first with the featured seller thing then the holidays then all the trips back home and babies born and loved ones leaving and trips and opening our brick n' mortar and still tryin' to keep up - it's just odd to have a chance to sit and not have anything to do. so i spent the majority of the day at the machine sewin' up lotsa these collars from all this fur i have left behind as memory of a project that never turned out right. so into all the leopard print winter accessories i've been seein' round. i was bidding on the perfect leopard print coat, but it went far beyond my financial reach (which, honestly, ain't that far as we all know). maybe it's too trendy, but i don't care. leopard print forevs! anyhow, i think i'll put 'em in the shop in the next few days once i get back in the swing of sewing and clean 'em up a little. this wasn't the ribbon i wanted, but the spool i bought at joann's turned out to be stiff and gross floral ribbon instead of the satiny stuff i thought i'd picked up - and i had this sheer lying round the house for a while so it made do. anyway. finally time for all those projects scribbled in notebooks.
