my xmas gift to c

c said he was tired of his sesame street sheets and
"baby-ish" things, so for christmas i redecorated his room
in a jungle theme. i did it all with the help of m while he
was away visiting his family in tennessee with his mom for
christmas. the animal prints on the wall are just 5/$1 pieces
of felt. i found the rug stashed under his bed which was given
to m years ago from a friend. the bedding's from target and
kmart. the faux plants, hobby lobby 50% off and the print
from allposters.com.

we did this always when i was a little one.

when i was leaving to go back to college after
my first trip home, he did this from the porch
as i drove away. i think i cried all the way to
alabama.

i made her hat in a new supersoft luxe yarn
that i'm hoping to introduce to the shop soon.
it's so so soft and sweet, like little colorful
clouds.

so that's that

i didn't go in today. i was scheduled, but i didn't go. it was
getting harder and harder. harder to play the manager vs.
employee power games. harder to bite my tongue. the first
month i started i was one of the top sellers in the store.
my numbers were high. when i was there i worked constantly.
i didn't stand around. i didn't take breaks. i didn't have visitors
or long conversations. i just worked, i was friendly and nice, but
i always worked hard. this month i made most all of my sale goals,
but my UPT was down. i was given the choice of signing a commitment
sheet or termination. it felt unfair, i'd worked hard, so i didn't go.

here's to softspoken full-time.
